With the annual supply of 100,000 tons of eMethanol from HIF Global’s growing production portfolio, the agreement strengthens the supply of sustainable fuels and contributes to global decarbonization goals and energy security.
Hamburg/Berlin, Germany. February 19, 2026. HIF Global, the world’s leading producer of eFuels, and German eFuel One GmbH, a German pioneer in clean energy solutions, leading producer of eFuel racing fuels and two-time WSBK World Champion with BMW MOTORRAD Motorsport, have signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) for the long-term purchase of eMethanol, to be sourced from HIF’s Paysandú project in Uruguay. The agreement secures German eFuel One early access to initial production volumes as the global market for eMethanol continues to gain momentum.
This agreement creates the framework for the supply of around 100,000 tons of eMethanol per year by HIF to the German eFuel One GmbH and thus supports the transition to sustainable mobility. The HoA sets out the key commercial points for the negotiation of a final offtake agreement.
The e-methanol supplied under this agreement will meet the demanding specifications of the International Methanol Producers and Consumers Association (IMPCA)
and will be certified in accordance with the EU RED III requirements for RFNBO.
Diego Fettweis, Chief Commercial Officer of HIF Global: “This agreement is an important step towards the further spread of sustainable fuels. Together with the German eFuel One, we are driving the decarbonization of global transport and industry.
We will build on our proven experience in operating and exporting eFuels from HIF Haru Oni in southern Chile for over three years and our global project portfolio to provide reliable certified eMethanol to the market.” The agreement builds on HIF Global’s ongoing activities to strengthen its presence in the European market and follows the Heads of Agreement announced in 2025 for the purchase of eFuels with MB Energy (Mabanaft), another leading German
energy company.
Christian Hanke, CEO of German eFuel One GmbH, adds: “We are creating the basis for the reliable production of eFuels on an industrial scale – a central building block for the urgently needed, technology-neutral path to climate neutrality in the transport sector. For the Port of Hamburg as an import hub for Europe, the reliable import of green molecules is of crucial importance. It not only strengthens the regional industry, but also supports the German government in ensuring the necessary energy security to accelerate defossilization in Germany. Together with HIF Global, we are demonstrating that sustainable mobility is not a vision of the future, it starts today.”
eMethanol is a synthetic fuel produced by combining green hydrogen with recycled carbon dioxide. It can be used in existing engines and infrastructures without any modifications. Thanks to its versatility, eMethanol is suitable for a wide range of applications: for use directly in shipping and industrial processes or for further processing into sustainable fuels such as ePetrol for cars or eSAF for aviation. This flexibility enables companies in different industries to advance their decarbonization goals with proven, adaptable technology.
The future offtake agreement between HIF Global and German eFuel One GmbH creates a long-term framework for the annual supply of certified eMethanol. Availability is subject to the conclusion of the contract and the further ramp-up of international eFuels production capacities.
HIF’s projects and production facilities are located in regions with particularly favorable conditions for renewable energies worldwide. The eFuels produced will arrive in Hamburg, a central European energy and import location.
